What is and m3 and an m2? What makes it important, why do we use ㎥ and not m2? How to measure your space?
In short, an ㎡ (square meter) is a flat surface of 1m x 1m, it has no volume. So if you rent a storage space of 1㎡ it will depend on the height of the room to determine its volume. An ㎥ (cubic meter) is 1m x 1m x 1m, it is a volume. All objects have 3 dimensions and thus volume.
We use ㎥ for calculating space as we feel it is fair on all parties and it generally saves you money. For instance if you rent 1㎡ with a ceiling height of 3m, you are in effect taking 3㎥ of space and will be billed for such, even if they are quoting for 1㎡. you may not require 3㎥ but maybe only 1㎥ - so why pay for 3? With {{BusinessName.value}} we use cubic meter billing for that purpose, you pay only for the storage space you use, this applies to what ever sizes space. It generally will always work in your favour to only actually pay for the storage space you actually use!
To get a good estimate on the space you require in ㎥ simply get measure the items you wish to store, measure the length x width x height in cms and then divide by 1000000 to get ㎥, i.e. a sofa of 200 x 100 x 100 cm would be 200 x 100 x 100 / 1000000 = 2㎥.
Another way to look at it is a ㎥ is 1000 litres. When buying packing boxes they are often quoted in litre volume, i.e the boxes we sell are 96l. So, basically 10 boxes is the same as 1㎥, 10 boxes to the cubic meter.
So make notes on the items you wish to store, the approximate dimensions gives you their volume, add the item volumes together and you will get a total space requirement. You can often save on some space by place boxes inside cupboards, boxes under tables etc.
